CCC to Launch Month-Long Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign

Chattogram: Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) has announced plans to conduct a month-long awareness campaign in October, focusing on improving healthcare, particularly in the area of breast cancer. City Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain emphasized the importance of transforming the port city into a healthy metropolis, a commitment he made to the city’s residents. He made these remarks while serving as the chief guest at a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony, which aims to implement a comprehensive sensitization program city-wide during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the CCC signed the MoU with two private healthcare organizations, CSCR (Pvt.) Ltd and PGS Academia, at the CCC auditorium. City Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain, CSCR (Pvt.) Ltd’s Managing Director Dr. Morsedul Karim Chowdhury, and PGS Academia’s Vice-chairman Professor Dr. Masud Karim represented their respective organizations in the signing.



Under the MoU, CCC and its partners will organize media talk shows, processions, leaflet distributions, and exhibitions involving students and teachers from the city’s schools and colleges. These events aim to enhance awareness about breast cancer throughout October. The Mayor highlighted the need for concerted efforts to alleviate fear among breast cancer patients and encourage timely treatment.



The ceremony was attended by several notable figures, including Daily Azadi Editor M A Malek, CCC Secretary Md. Ashraful Amin, Chief Education Officer Dr. Kissinger Chakma, Acting Chief Health Officer of the CCC Dr. Imam Hossain Rana, CSCR (Pvt.) Ltd. Chairman Dr. Khurshid Jamil Chowdhury, and journalist Zahidul Karim Kochi.



Additionally, CSCR Hospital will offer free consultations to patients as part of the Breast Cancer Screening Programme, alongside a 50 percent discount throughout the month. Daily Azadi Editor M A Malek pledged full support to the campaign, promising to give special focus to its dissemination through Azadi.
