Dhaka: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 arrested the prime accused in the auto-rickshaw driver Raiful Islam murder case in Lalmonirhat from Dhaka city on Wednesday.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrestee was identified as Md Mahfuzar Rahman Mamun, 42, son of Md Ayub Ali of village Uttar Dolgram under Kaliganj Police Station of Lalmonirhat district. A press release detailed the events leading to the arrest, stating that the victim, an auto-rickshaw driver, went missing on August 18, 2025.
The victim’s body was discovered on the Swati River, east of Jambari Para, under Hatibandha police station of Lalmonirhat district, at around 11 am on August 20, 2025. Following the discovery, the victim’s mother filed a murder case with Hatibandha police station on the same day.
On receiving a tip-off, a joint operational team comprising RAB-13’s Crime Prevention Specialised Company and RAB-4’s Mirpur Camp conducted a drive, arresting the accused from the capital city at 3:30 pm on Wednesday.
