Jashore: A medical officer from Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) lost his life, and another individual sustained injuries in a road accident at Avoynagar upazila in Jashore last night. The incident has raised concerns about road safety in the region.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the deceased has been identified as Dr. Saiful Islam, aged 46, son of Sirazul Islam, a resident of Ghop Jail Road in Jashore city. The tragic accident unfolded around 8 pm in the Alipur Alamdanga area on the Jashore-Khulna Highway when two motorcycles collided head-on.
Sub-Inspector Azizul Bari of Noapara Highway Police Station provided details of the accident. Dr. Saiful and another motorcyclist, identified as Rana, sustained critical injuries. They were immediately rushed to Avoynagar Health Complex, where Dr. Saiful was pronounced dead by the on-duty physician. Rana remains in critical condition and is receiving medical attention at the health complex.
Police reports indicate that Dr. Saiful was en route to KMCH from his residence when the accident occurred. The incident highlights the pressing issue of road safety and the need for preventive measures to avoid such tragedies in the future.
