Khalid Meets Nawaz Sharif in Lahore to Discuss Bilateral Cooperation

Lahore: Religious Affairs Adviser Dr. AFM Khalid Hossen today called on former Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz at Nawaz Sharif’s residence in Lahore. During the meeting, they discussed various aspects related to the interests of both countries.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting also included the presence of Bangladesh High Commissioner in Pakistan M Iqbal Hossen. Dr. Khalid emphasized Bangladesh’s desire to enhance relations with Pakistan and sought support in agriculture and technological sectors. He also requested scholarships for Bangladeshi students to study in Pakistan.



Nawaz Sharif expressed that Pakistani people maintain affection for their Bangladeshi counterparts, highlighting the importance of strengthening relations for the mutual benefit of the two nations. He commended Bangladesh’s rapid economic growth.



Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz emphasized the historical foundation of brotherhood between Bangladesh and Pakistan, suggesting that trade and direct communication can further bolster their ties. She acknowledged Bangladesh’s achievements in the garment industry, microfinance, and women’s inclusion in various sectors. Maryam Nawaz assured support in areas such as green energy and expressed her willingness to foster partnerships in flood management and agriculture between Punjab and Bangladesh.



She reiterated her commitment to transforming the friendship into a lasting partnership for regional peace and prosperity. Senior officials from both countries were present during the discussions.
