Dhaka: Primary and Mass Education Adviser Professor Dr. Bidhan Ranjan Roy Podder has emphasized that the true development of Bangladesh relies on creating a healthy and well-educated population. He made this statement while addressing a seminar titled "Bangladesh's Achievements in Literacy and Future Plans", organized by NEMO Learning Limited at the National Press Club on the occasion of International Literacy Day.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Bidhan highlighted the country's limited land resources, stating that the land resources are inadequate compared to the growing demand. He emphasized that the most valuable resource for Bangladesh is skilled manpower and called for an increased focus on technical education to equip the workforce with essential skills. He also stressed the importance of quality education along with attention to the health and social order of the nation, asserting that a healthy, educated, and socially harmonious population is the cornerstone of sustainable national development.
The seminar featured an article presentation by Professor Dr. Siddiqur Rahman, former Director of the Institute of Education and Research at Dhaka University. The event was presided over by Zafar Raja Chowdhury, former Additional Secretary and Chairman of NEMO Learning. Distinguished guests included Debabrata Chakraborty, Acting Director General of the Bureau of Non-Formal Education; retired Brigadier General Nahidul Islam Khan; renowned actress Dilara Zaman; media personality Sohrab Hasan; and Professor Dr. Md. Qutubuddin, Professor of Mathematics at Dhaka University and Managing Director of Academia Limited.
