Selim Pradhan, 8 Others Held for Operating Unauthorized Lead Bar in Gulshan

Dhaka: The Gulshan Police have arrested nine people, including Selim Pradhan from the capital’s Baridhara area on charges of operating an unauthorized lead bar in Gulshan. The arrest operation took place around 3:00 pm today, as detailed in a police press release.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the remaining arrestees include Md. Rakibul Islam Rafi (25), Md. Sadiqul Islam Sumon (39), Md. Taufiqul Islam (25), Md. Rifat Hasan (25), Md. Rabiul Hasan (25), Minhazur Rahman Tajbir (21), Md. Mehedi Hasan (26), and Md. Saimum Islam (25). The police conducted a raid in the city’s Baridhara area, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Gulshan police station.



During the operation, the authorities seized 6,700 kg of lead, 2 kg of Anirban Coconut Caracol, seven lead stands, three empty cans of different brands, five lead stand pipes, and Tk 48,700 in cash from the suspects’ possessions. A case under the Narcotics Control Act has been registered against the arrestees with the Gulshan police station.



The police stated that the arrested individuals are active members of an unauthorized lead bar trading gang. They confessed during initial interrogation to being involved in the unauthorized lead bar business, as noted in the press release.
