Natore: Construction of the July Martyrs Monument, built to honor the martyrs of the July uprising, has been completed in the district. The monument, located in front of the Government Public Library in the town, will be inaugurated tomorrow by the adviser to the Ministry of Housing and Public Works Adilur Rahman Khan.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the monument is nineteen feet high and six feet in diameter, with its main structure engraved with popular slogans from the mass uprising. The names of the eight martyrs from Natore who died in the uprising are also engraved on the iron cover of the concrete base.
The Ministry of Housing and Public Works constructed the monument at the initiative of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs. Amit Kumar Deb, the executive engineer of the Natore District Public Works Department, stated that the construction was completed properly while maintaining the highest quality standards.
Natore Deputy Commissioner Asma Shahin highlighted the community’s involvement, saying that with the cooperation of the people of Natore, they were able to select the location for the memorial in the heart of the city and complete the construction in a short time.
