Dhaka: The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has imposed a ban on holding any kind of rallies and gatherings at Bangladesh Secretariat, the official residence of the Chief Adviser, Jamuna and their surrounding areas from Sunday. DMP Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali issued this public order as part of efforts to maintain public order and ensure the security of the Chief Adviser. The restriction is enacted under the authority of Section 29 of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance (Ordinance No. III/76).
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the order specifically prohibits meetings, assemblies, mass gatherings, processions, human chains, sit-ins, and similar activities. The ban will be in effect starting Sunday, September 7, 2025, and will remain until further notice. The restricted areas include the Bangladesh Secretariat and its adjacent regions, as well as the official residence of the Chief Adviser, Jamuna. The affected zone spans the area between Hotel InterContinental Crossing, Kakrail Mosque Crossing, Officers Club Crossing, and Mintu Road Crossing.
