Rajshahi: Rajshahi University Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Saleh Hasan Naquib has called for full cooperation from all parties involved to ensure the successful and peaceful operation of the university. "We want to maintain a proper academic atmosphere in the university, and support from all quarters, including the mass media, has become an urgent need to attain the cherished goal," he stated during a press conference at the RU senate building, marking his one-year tenure in office.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Prof. Saleh Naquib emphasized the necessity of transforming the university into a hub for generating competent workforces to meet national demands. He noted, "We are working relentlessly" to achieve this vision. The event also featured speeches from Pro-VCs Prof. Mayeen Uddin and Prof. Farid Uddin Khan, Treasurer Prof. Setaur Rahman, and Registrar Prof. Iftikharul Alam Masud.
Highlighting his major achievements over the past year, the VC noted that transparency and accountability have been established in teacher recruitment, which he deemed essential for generating skilled manpower. He also announced the upcoming elections for the Rajshahi University Central Students Union, Hall Council, and Students Representatives to the Senate, scheduled for September 25, marking the first such elections in 35 years.
Prior to these elections, the RUCSU constitution was updated, and a robust and effective election commission was formed. Additionally, the Rajshahi University Alumni Association held its first election this year in a festive atmosphere.
In a historic first for RU, admission tests for first-year honors courses were successfully conducted this year in Dhaka, Chattogram, Khulna, and Rangpur.
