Satkhira: Satkhira’s Bhomra land port earned a revenue of Taka 978 crore 77 lakh 98 thousand 899 in import trade from India in the fiscal year 2024-25. In this fiscal year, the National Board of Revenue (NBR) set a revenue target for the port of Taka 946 crore 23 lakh.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, due to the business-friendly environment, low-cost transportation of goods, and fast goods clearance system at Bhomra Port, large import-export traders have increased their use of this port. Despite the adverse conditions in trade management, this port earned an additional revenue of Taka 32 crore 54 lakh 98 thousand 899 than the target set by the government.
In addition, traders are being encouraged as there is no tendency of extortion on the way. Abu Musa, general secretary of Bhomra Customs C and F Agent Association, said that if bilateral diplomatic and commercial relations improve, import-export trade at this port will become more dynamic. As a result, revenue income will also increase significantly.
Md. Mizanur Rahman, revenue officer of Bhomra Customs Station, said the National Board of Revenue (NBR) has set a revenue collection target of Taka 1,489.33 crore at Bhomra Port in the current 2025-26 new fiscal year. The target can only be met if a transparent and conducive environment for the trade system is maintained, the customs official added.
