Dhaka: All candidates participating in the upcoming Jahangirnagar University Central Students' Union (JUCSU) and Hall Union elections, scheduled for September 11, will be required to undergo a mandatory dope test.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Chief Election Commissioner Prof Dr Md Maniruzzaman confirmed this requirement following an exchange of views meeting held on August 31. During this meeting, the majority of candidates expressed their desire for the implementation of mandatory dope tests for all election contestants. After considering the feedback, the Election Commission decided to adopt the proposal.
Dr Md Maniruzzaman also mentioned that a letter has been dispatched to the university administration, urging them to take the necessary steps to conduct the tests for all eligible candidates. The decision to enforce dope testing reflects the candidates' strong support, as conveyed during the meeting organized by the Election Commission on August 31.
