Dhaka: The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) has released the quota allocations for merit and general scholarships for the fiscal year 2025-26. These scholarships are allocated based on the results of the National University's Bachelor's (honours) and Bachelor's (pass) examinations.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, an office order signed by DSHE Director General Professor Dr. Muhammad Azad Khan specified that scholarships must be distributed evenly among students. The Ministry of Education's previous directives guided the determination of the number, quota, and financial allocations under the revenue sector. For undergraduate (honours) students, 18 merit scholarships and 375 general scholarships will be provided. Merit scholarships offer a monthly amount of Taka 1,125 and a one-time annual grant of Taka 1,800, while general scholarships provide Taka 450 monthly and a one-time grant of Taka 900.

These scholarships will be valid for one year. For graduation (pass) students, nine merit scholarships and 300 general scholarships have been determined. The monthly rate for merit scholarships is Taka 1,050, with an annual grant of Taka 1,800. General scholarships in this category offer a monthly rate of Taka 375 and a one-time grant of Taka 600, with a duration of two years.

The distribution criteria include an equal allocation of scholarships based on gender, with 50 percent reserved for male students and 50 percent for female students. If no eligible female students are found, the scholarships can be awarded to male students. Eligible students must be enrolled in a higher class to receive the scholarship benefits. The scholarship gazette is to be published by September 18, and student information must be accurately entered into the designated MIS software.

Conditions for data entry include the requirement for students to open a bank account with online facilities in their name and to maintain identity consistency between their name and bank account. Agent banking accounts such as Bikash and Nagad are not permissible. The head of the institution is responsible for any errors or irregularities in the information provided.
