Dhaka: The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has expressed gratitude towards the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) for opting for a people-friendly initiative to commemorate its 47th foundation anniversary, instead of proceeding with the previously planned rally that could have led to public inconvenience.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the DMP issued a statement thanking BNP for devising constructive programs that avoided congested roads, prioritizing the welfare and ease of city inhabitants. The DMP highlighted that large gatherings in a densely populated city often lead to significant disruptions, causing widespread inconvenience to the public.
The statement from the DMP underscored the importance of such initiatives by BNP, which they believe will set a precedent for conducting political activities without causing discomfort to the public. The DMP referred to this initiative as a positive example for future political events.
On August 23, the DMP had a meeting with leaders from 32 political parties and alliances, including those from BNP, where DMP Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali urged political entities to organize events in a manner that avoids public disruption.
The DMP considers BNP's decision to hold an alternative program for its anniversary as a reflection of the commissioner's appeal, emphasizing the significance of minimizing public suffering during political activities.
