Abhaynagar: Child artist Gungun Majumdar shines with exceptional talent in storytelling, recitation, dancing, and singing, captivating audiences and earning accolades in various competitions. At just nine years old, she balances her artistic pursuits alongside her studies, winning hearts nationwide.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Gungun is the eldest daughter of Shyamal Kumar Majumdar, the principal of Uttar Abhaynagar Technical School and College, and Deepti Kona Chandra, a housewife. She is a third-grade student at Computer Little Jewels School. Gungun's artistic journey has been marked by significant achievements, including winning first place in the national storytelling competition at Phulkuri Asar, held in Dhaka on October 19 last year.
Gungun's accomplishments extend to various dance competitions. She was the champion in the folk dance category at the Shishu Kishore Padak-2024 competition at the Khulna divisional level. Additionally, she placed second in Kathak dance at the Jessore district level children's competition in 2022 and achieved top positions in several categories at the upazila level.
Her father, Shyamal Kumar Majumdar, expressed pride in Gungun's achievements, recalling her early success in the Jessore district level recitation competition during World Children's Day and Child Rights Week in 2020. Her mother, Deepti Kona Chandra, highlighted Gungun's dedication, noting the guidance she receives from separate teachers for recitation, singing, and dancing. Despite her busy schedule, Gungun finds time to bond with her younger sister, Aroni.
Gungun herself shared her aspirations, crediting her mother as her inspiration and acknowledging the support of both parents in her preparation for storytelling competitions. She dreams of becoming a doctor and the best dancer in the country while enjoying drawing in her free time.
Mahfuza Begum, Principal of Computer Little Jewels School, praised Gungun's brilliance from kindergarten to her current third-grade level, emphasizing the positive impact of her talents on the school's reputation. Mahfuza Begum expressed her hopes for Gungun's bright future.
