Meherpur: Javed Masud Milton and Advocate Kamrul Islam have been elected as the president and general secretary of the Meherpur District Unit of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) respectively. The election took place during the district BNP conference held at the Meherpur Government College ground.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the conference was graced by the presence of BNP Vice Chairman Professor Nargis Begum, who attended as the chief guest. In her address, she highlighted the contributions of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman in rescuing democracy from Baksal and introducing multi-party democracy, while noting Begum Khaleda Zia’s role in transitioning the country to a parliamentary democracy from a presidential system.
The event was presided over by Meherpur District BNP Convener Javed Masud Milton, with BNP Executive Committee Organizing Secretary Anindya Islam Amit as the main speaker. Advocate Kamrul Hasan, the district BNP member secretary, moderated the conference. Other notable attendees included Aman Ullah Aman, a member of the Chairperson’s Advisory Council, and several district BNP conveners from neighboring areas, such as Babu Jayanta Kumar Kundu, Kutub Uddin Ahmed, Ali Ahmed, Syed Saberul Haque Sabu, Mahmud Hasan Khan Babu, and Md. Amirul Islam.
Javed Masud Milton was elected unopposed as the president, while Advocate Kamrul Islam was chosen as the general secretary during the conference.
