Lakshmipur: On The International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances, families of seven individuals, who were forcibly disappeared in Lakshmipur more than a decade ago, gathered in a human chain demanding justice and accountability.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the victims were allegedly abducted by law enforcement forces under the administration of the Awami League-led government, and their whereabouts remain unknown. The protest was organized by the organization 'Mayer Dak' and took place in front of the Lakshmipur Press Club at around 11:30 am.
The event was attended by family members of the disappeared as well as representatives from the human rights organization 'Odhikar'. Emon Omar, the district president of Mayer Dak, alongside families of other victims of enforced disappearance, including BNP leader Omar Faruk, Jubo Dal leader Iqbal Mahmud Jewel, and BNP members Belal Hossain, Raju, and Alamgir, were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, the family members of the victims demanded the return of the victims and stated that those involved in enforced disappearances should be brought to justice.
