Mirsarai: A freight coach of a Chattogram-bound train derailed today in Mirsarai upazila of the district, with no reported casualties. The accident took place around 12 noon near Bartakia railway station in Khayashra union.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the derailment led to a suspension of train movement on the main Chattogram-bound line for about two hours until operations resumed at 2 pm. However, train services on the sideline and the Dhaka-bound lane were not affected and continued as normal.
Bartakia railway station sources reported that the goods-laden coach of the freight train derailed, prompting an immediate response from a rescue team. The team effectively managed to lift the coach's wheels back onto the track, allowing for the restoration of normal train operations.
