Rajshahi: The election to the Rajshahi University Central Students Union (RUCSU), Hall Council, and Students' Representative to Senate 2025 has been rescheduled. Chief Commissioner of the election, Prof Dr F Nazrul Islam, announced that the RUCSU election will now be held on September 28, instead of the previously announced September 15.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the revised schedule outlines that the distribution of nomination papers will occur from August 24 to 28 and again on August 31. Submission of nomination papers is set for September 1 to 4 and on September 7. The scrutiny of these papers will take place on September 8 and 9. A preliminary list of candidates will be published on September 11, with submission and settlement of objections due on September 14.

September 15 has been marked as the deadline for the withdrawal of candidature, and the final list of candidates will be released on September 16. The polling on September 28 will take place from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at the university's administrative building. The counting of votes and the announcement of results will follow on the same day.

The final voter list for the upcoming elections was published on August 19, listing a total of 25,152 students, including 15,468 female students, as eligible voters. This election marks a significant event as Rajshahi University students are set to regain their representative rights after a 35-year hiatus since the last RUCSU election in the 1989-90 academic year.

Preparations are progressing to ensure the smooth conduct of the polls. Despite the RUCSU constitution mandating annual student union elections, the process had been stalled for decades due to various reasons.
