Dhaka: Twenty-four people have been sentenced to various terms of imprisonment in the Special Metropolitan Magistrate Court under the Mirpur Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) for their involvement in various crimes. Special Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Bilal Hossain awarded the sentences against the individuals for committing crimes including drug trafficking, mobile snatching, theft, and involvement in anti-social activities, said a DMP press release.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the mobile court conducted raids in the capital's Mirpur Model, Darussalam, Kafrul, Bhashantek, Rupnagar, Shahali, and Pallabi police stations. The court's actions are part of an ongoing effort to control crimes such as theft, snatching, drugs, eve-teasing, and illegal occupation on the streets in the Dhaka metropolis through regular summary trials.
As a result of these judicial actions, victims are receiving judicial services quickly and within a short time, enhancing the effectiveness of crime control measures in the city.
