Shariatpur: Bangladesh National Social Welfare Council today distributed donation cheques among 39 social welfare organizations of the district. Deputy Commissioner Tahsina Begum handed over the cheques of Taka 9 lakh 36 thousand among the welfare organizations for their social activities at a function at the Deputy Commissioner Conference room this morning.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the programme was organized by the District Social Services Department and the district administration. The event was attended by several notable figures, including Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Imrul Hasan, Additional Superintendent of Police Sheikh Sharif Uz Zaman, Deputy Director of the Department of Social Services Biswajit Baidya, Dr. Kaiser Ahmed, and representatives of social welfare organizations from different upazilas of the district.
In addition to the distribution of cheques, a decision was made during the programme to rehabilitate all the beggars in the district. This initiative aims to improve the living conditions and integration of beggars into society, further supporting the district’s social welfare objectives.
