Dhaka: Social Welfare Adviser to the interim government, Sharmeen S Murshid, today called upon the nation to harness the energy of the youth, inspired by their role in the July Uprising, to help build the country. She made these remarks while speaking at a workshop on Safe Alliance Counseling and Cyber Unit at the International Mother Language Institute auditorium, where she served as the chief guest.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Sharmeen Murshid highlighted the significant involvement of youths and juveniles in the 2024 July Mass Uprising against fascism. The event was chaired by the Chairman of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), Major General (retd) Md Emdadul Bari, and saw attendance from notable figures such as Joint Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Harunur Rashid and Chief of National Trauma Counseling Centre Ismot Jahan.
Murshid praised the courage and commitment of the youth during last year’s uprising, emphasizing their success and the lasting impact of their actions. She stated that the nation would forever remember those who sacrificed their lives in the July uprising and assured that her ministry would maintain its support to the interim government for the welfare of the families of those who were martyred.
She urged the youth to embrace technology, aiming to construct a merit-based society. She further added that empowering youths and juveniles to build resistance at home could help reduce incidents of women and child repression in the country.
