Boy Drowns in Tangail River Tragedy

Tangail: A tragic incident unfolded in Char Shimla village of Nagada Shimla union, Gopalpur upazila, as a nine-year-old boy named Loknath drowned in the Bairan River on Wednesday afternoon.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the young boy, son of Ranjit, was bathing in the river with other children near their house around 1 pm when the incident occurred. Despite the presence of other children, Loknath was unable to stay afloat and tragically drowned.

A diving team from Tangail was dispatched to the scene to conduct a rescue operation. The team successfully recovered Loknath’s body from the river, bringing a somber end to the community’s anxious wait.

Station Officer-in-Charge of Gopalpur Fire Service, Md. Khadimuzzaman, confirmed the incident, marking a heartbreaking day for the family and the local community.
