350 Illegal Structures Demolished in Laksam to Ease Traffic

Laksam: Laksam upazila administration and Roads and Highways Department today demolished over 350 illegal structures built on both sides of the Chandpur-Cumilla regional highway to ease traffic congestion and public suffering. The eviction drive was conducted by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Kausar Hamid at Bijra and Mudaffarganj Bazars of Laksam upazila from morning to afternoon.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the team demolished various markets, concrete buildings, and floating shops that had been constructed along the side of the highway. Cumilla Roads and Highways Department Sub-Divisional Engineer Mohammad Adnan Ibne Hasan, Laksam Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Nizam Uddin, and members of the police and army were present during the operation.



These establishments had been occupying the highway for a long time, creating obstacles in traffic. The operation was aimed at alleviating the issues caused by these encroachments, thereby improving the flow of traffic and reducing public inconvenience.
