Dhaka: Four commissioners of the Election Commission (EC) and officials are holding a meeting to finalize the roadmap for the 13th national parliamentary elections. The meeting began this afternoon at the Election Building in the capital’s Agargaon, with the presence of four Election Commissioners and officials of the EC Secretariat, as confirmed by EC sources.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting is focused on developing an action plan, though Election Commissioner Brig Gen Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah (retd) noted that the complexity of the issues might prevent its completion today. “We’ve begun the meeting on draw the action plan. Since there are many issues, it may not be possible to complete today. In that case, we may have to wait until Sunday or Monday,” he stated. The commissioner assured that the progress of the meeting would be reported to the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), after which the roadmap will be finalized and announced.
Earlier, on August 18, EC’s Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed had indicated that the EC electoral roadmap for the 13th National Parliamentary Elections would be announced this week. A draft of the action plan has already been prepared and presented in the meeting for discussion and decision-making, according to EC sources.
