Barishal: Advocate Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal, a member of the BNP Chairperson’s Advisory Council, has announced that Tarique Rahman, acting chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), will soon return to the country to lead the party’s political activities. He made these remarks while engaging with journalists at the Barishal Press Club auditorium today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Alal emphasized that over the past 17 years, democracy, freedom of expression, and civil rights have been systematically undermined. Despite these challenges, he affirmed that the BNP remains united and committed to continuing its political journey through movements and by standing alongside the people.
Recalling a moment of historical significance, Alal highlighted Barishal’s proud place in Bangladesh’s liberation history. He noted that in 1969, freedom fighter Siraj Sikder began training for the armed liberation struggle in the Swarupkathi Peyara Bagan area of Banaripara upazila in Barishal district, marking a vital chapter in the nation’s history.
The event was attended by Press Club President Aminul Islam Khasru, Vice-Presidents Humayun Kabir and Zakir Hossain, veteran journalist Arup Talukder, and representatives from various media outlets.
