Dhaka: The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in a statement today confirmed that rickshaw-puller Md. Azizur Rahman (27), who was arrested from the capital’s Dhanmondi 32 area on August 15, was not accused in a murder case.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, after his arrest, police sent him to a Dhaka court on August 16 as a suspect in a case registered with Dhanmondi Police Station in April. However, DMP clarified that the case is not related to murder.
The DMP noted that false information is being spread across various media outlets, including social media, regarding the arrest and the nature of the case against Azizur Rahman. This misinformation has drawn the attention of the police authorities.
The DMP further clarified that the case in which Azizur Rahman was produced before the court is a regular case under the Penal Code. The statement emphasized that claims of it being a murder case are false and intentional.
“In this situation, the concerned are requested to refrain from spreading any confusion on the mentioned matter,” the DMP urged.
