Dinajpur: A mother and her three-month-old infant were tragically killed in a road accident at the Sonali Bank intersection in the Birampur upazila this morning. The victims, identified as Kohinoor Begum, 27, and her son Sifat, were residents of Dhanghara village in the same upazila.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the accident took place when the motorcycle, driven by Golam Rabbani, Kohinoor’s husband, was compelled to brake abruptly due to an auto-rickshaw halting suddenly in front of them. This sudden stop caused the motorcycle to lose balance, leading Kohinoor and her child to fall directly into the path of an oncoming truck, resulting in their immediate death.
Remarkably, Golam Rabbani managed to escape the accident unscathed. Inspector Momtazul Haque, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Birampur Police Station, confirmed the fatalities. He stated that the bodies have been transported to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital for an autopsy. Following the initial post-mortem examination, the bodies were released to the family.
Legal proceedings are currently underway concerning the incident, as confirmed by Inspector Haque.
