Dhaka: Opener Anamul Haque Bijoy is poised to receive another opportunity to demonstrate his abilities as the team management is considering his inclusion in the Bangladesh A squad for a four-day match against South Australia.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Bangladesh A is currently touring Australia, participating in the Top End T20 series in Darwin. Following the tournament, the second-string Bangladesh side will engage in a four-day game scheduled from August 28-31. This match serves as a preparation platform for Bangladesh’s Test series in Australia next year.
Bijoy recently returned to the Test fold after a significant period, owing to an excellent domestic season. However, his comeback was overshadowed by a disappointing performance, yielding only 62 runs across five innings in three Test matches. Despite this, the selectors have chosen to keep faith in him. Bijoy, along with five other cricketers-Iftekhar Hossain, Amite Hasan, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Shahadat Hossain Dipu, and Hasan Murad-will depart for Australia in two separate groups on August 17 and 18.
Additionally, pacer Hasan Mahmud, opener Naim Sheikh, spinner Nayeem Hasan, and wicketkeeper-batter Mohidul Islam Ankon, who are currently with the T20 team in Australia, will remain for the four-day game.
