Dhaka: Religious Affairs Adviser A F M Khalid Hossain today asserted that the July Mass Uprising has paved the way for transforming Bangladesh into a welfare state. “July Uprising has created huge opportunities to make the country a welfare state. Such opportunities do not come often. We must ensure proper utilization of these opportunities, otherwise we will regret,” he emphasized.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Adviser Khalid made these remarks while addressing a seminar titled ‘Role of Students, Teachers, and Islamic Scholars in Rebuilding a New Bangladesh After the Mass Uprising’. The event took place at the IDEB council hall located in the capital’s Kakrail area. The seminar was organized by the Bangladesh Madrasa Students-Teachers Parishad.
During his speech, the adviser underscored the crucial involvement of madrasa students and teachers in the July Uprising. He stated, “Alems (Islamic scholars) have contributed to many significant historical events of this country. In some cases, they have led movements.” This highlights the pivotal role of Islamic scholars in shaping the nation’s history and future.
The seminar was presided over by Abu Taher Jihadi, President of the Islami Qanun (Law) Implementation Committee. A keynote paper was presented by Dhaka University Arabic Department Professor Mohammad Rafiqul Islam. The event also featured speeches from prominent figures such as Mawlana Khalilur Rahman Madani and Mawlana Sakhawat Hossen Razi.
