Natore: A seven-day tree plantation campaign and tree fair commenced today in the district, marked by the slogan ‘Let’s do planned afforestation, build a green Bangladesh.’ The event aims to promote environmental sustainability and increase awareness about afforestation among the local populace.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Deputy Commissioner Asma Shaheen inaugurated the campaign and fair at a function held at Nawab Siraj-Ud-Dowla Government College grounds. The event, organized by the district administration in collaboration with the Forest Department, began at 10:30 am.
The inauguration ceremony was presided over by Rajshahi Divisional Forest Officer Md. Rafiquzzaman. Professor Abdul Bari Mirza, Principal of Nawab Siraj-Ud-Dowla Government College, attended the event as a special guest, emphasizing the importance of afforestation in combating climate change.
Assistant Conservator of Forests Md. Mehedizzaman delivered the welcome speech at the function. To mark the beginning of the campaign, a colorful procession was organized, starting from the college premises and parading through the main streets of the town before concluding at the same venue.
