Bidhan Ranjan Mourns Death of Eminent Educationist Jatin Sarker

Dhaka: Primary and Mass Education Adviser Professor Dr Bidhan Ranjan Roy Podder today expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of eminent essayist and educationist Prof Jatin Sarker. In a condolence message, Bidhan Ranjan prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed his deep sympathy to the bereaved family.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Prof Jatin Sarker passed away while undergoing treatment at Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital at 2:44 pm today at the age of 89. He had long been suffering from old-age complications, as confirmed by his son, Suman Sarker.



His body will be taken to the district’s Udichi office for the public to pay their respects. Later, it will be taken to his home district Netrokona for the funeral. Jatin Sarkar was born on August 18, 1936, in Chandpara village of Kendua, Netrokona. The former teacher of the Bangla Department at Nasirabad College in Mymensingh had been engaged for decades in intellectual literary pursuits, leftist politics, and progressive movements.
