Khulna: Police arrested a drug peddler along with 2,000 pieces of contraband yaba tablets from Pather Bazar check post under Khanjahan Ali police station in the city last night. The arrested individual was identified as Jadunnabi, 29, son of Yousuf Mia, hailing from Mirsarai in Chattogram.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Khondokar Ahsan Ahmad, Assistant Commissioner (Media) of KMP, confirmed the arrest and seizure. The operation took place as part of a routine check at the Pather Bazar check post, a known point for monitoring illegal activities in the area.
Law enforcement officials have intensified their surveillance in the region due to an increase in drug trafficking activities. The contraband yaba tablets, which were recovered from Jadunnabi, are a part of a larger effort to curb drug distribution networks operating within the city and its outskirts.
Following the arrest, a case was filed with the Khanjahan Ali police station. Authorities are continuing their investigation to identify potential connections and further disrupt the supply chain of illegal drugs in the region.
