Lakshmipur: One of the four people burnt in a gas cylinder explosion on a boat in Ramgati upazila of the district has died. Fisherman Amjad Hossain passed away while undergoing treatment at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery on Saturday night, as confirmed by Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ramgati Police Station Md. Kabir Hossain this morning.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Amjad Hossain was the son of Syed Ahmed from Charbanchi area of Raipur upazila. He had been receiving medical care for the last three days. Meanwhile, the condition of the other three victims remains critical. The other individuals who suffered burns are Faruk Hossain, aged 40, Abul Khair, aged 32, and Gani Khan, aged 50.
The incident occurred on Thursday morning when fishermen were cooking in a boat on the river near the Ramgati fish landing center. A gas cylinder unexpectedly exploded, resulting in six fishermen being burnt. They were initially treated at the Ramgati Upazila Health Complex. However, four of them, including Amjad, were later transferred to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery due to the severity of their injuries.
