Vientiane: Trishna Rani slammed a brilliant hat-trick as Bangladesh thrashed Timor-Leste by 8-0 goals in their second group H match of the AFC Under-20 Women’s Asian Cup 2026 Thailand qualifiers held at the New Laos National Stadium, Vientiane today (Friday).
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Trishna’s hat-trick was a standout performance, with her three goals significantly contributing to Bangladesh’s commanding victory. Sinha Shikha, Shanti Mardi, Nabiran Khatun, Sagorika, and Munki Akhter each supported with a single goal, making it a one-sided affair. Bangladesh led the first half with a 4-0 advantage.
Shikha opened the scoring for Bangladesh with a header from inside the danger zone, capitalizing on a corner from Sapna Rani in the 20th minute. Shanti Mardi doubled the lead with a goal from a corner kick that found the net after hitting the left side bar in the 33rd minute. Nabiran Khatun increased the margin by scoring the third goal with a header off a corner from Shanti Mardi in the 36th minute. Trishna added the fourth goal with a placing shot from close range following a combined attack in the 45+4th minute.
With a strong 4-0 lead, Bangladesh continued their dominance in the second half. Trishna scored her second goal in the 57th minute, while Sagorika made it 6-0 in the 73rd minute. Trishna completed her hat-trick with the seventh goal in the 82nd minute, and Munki Akhter rounded off the tally by scoring the eighth goal in the 90+6th minute.
Earlier in the tournament, the Bangladesh team had a successful start by defeating host Laos 3-1. They are set to play their final group match against South Korea on Sunday (Aug 10). The group’s outcome will be determined in this last match, with 32 teams divided into eight groups competing in the round-robin league format qualifiers. Eight group winners and the three best runners-up will join hosts Thailand in April 2026.
