Khulna: The Institute of Information and Communication Technology (IICT) at Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) has been relentlessly working for the past one and a half decades to provide timely and career-oriented education and expand knowledge in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, IICT currently offers ICT training to people of all ages, including high-ranking government officials. The institute regularly provides 6-month and 3-month training programs for the general public, alongside 2-week specialized training programs for employees and officials from various institutions.

IICT sources indicate that the institute offers training in 26 contemporary programs. Among these, 8 are part of the 6-month professional diploma course, and 18 are short-term training programs. The training is conducted by a team of qualified and experienced instructors in classrooms equipped with modern laboratories, internet, and Wi-Fi facilities. Trainees receive a certificate from IICT at KUET upon successful completion.

Professor Dr. Ashraful Gani Bhuiyan, Director of IICT, emphasized that the core objective of this training is to provide timely and employment-oriented education while expanding ICT knowledge. “IICT plays a pioneering role in bringing the benefits of information technology to the grassroots level,” he stated.

He further added that with the goal of expanding ICT access, the institute is continuously introducing new training programs, developing new labs, and planning further expansions of its facilities. Under the government’s EDGE project from the ICT Division, more than 115 high-ranking government officials from Khulna and nearby districts have received ICT training at the institute.

Regarding future developments, Dr. Bhuiyan mentioned that the KUET syndicate has decided to hand over the ICT Ministry’s Incubation Center located on campus to be operated by IICT. Once the handover process is complete, the institute’s scope and efficiency are expected to greatly expand.
