‘Bangla Sign Language’ Training Workshop Launches in Naogaon

Naogaon: A two-day training workshop titled ‘Bangla Sign Language’ for people with speech disabilities has started in the district today. Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Awal inaugurated the workshop as the chief guest at Sadar Upazila Auditorium this morning.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the training workshop is jointly organized by the District Administration and the District Office of the Department of Social Services. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Jannat Ara Tithi presided over the programme. Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Ibnul Abedin, Deputy Director of the District Department of Social Services Nur Mohammad, and Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr. Munir Ali Akand were present as special guests.



The officials concerned mentioned that the workshop is being conducted by Sayem Khan, a Bengali sign language teacher at the Department of Social Services in Rajshahi, Ariful Islam, a Bengali sign language newsreader at Bangladesh Television, and Abu Taher Ibne Sayem, an assistant teacher at the PHT in Rajshahi.



A total of 52 speech-impaired individuals from different upazilas of the district, along with teachers from schools for the disabled, are participating in this training workshop.
