Dhaka: Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today called upon the voters to take preparations to elect the best candidates in the upcoming parliamentary polls. In his televised address to the nation this evening marking the July Mass Uprising Day, the CA urged the people to rise to the historic responsibility of shaping a ‘new Bangladesh’ through active participation in the election process.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Yunus emphasized the importance of the elections as a pivotal moment for the nation. He encouraged citizens to take an active role, stating, ‘Let us successfully pass the first big test of building a new Bangladesh.’ He further advised those living far from their constituencies to visit regularly, ensuring they are well-prepared to make informed decisions at the polls.

Reflecting on the 2024 uprising, Dr. Yunus reminded the nation of the sacrifices made to reclaim their voting rights. He urged voters to remember the blood shed by students and masses when casting their votes, emphasizing the significance of honoring those who fought for democratic rights.

Dr. Yunus also highlighted the urgency of the situation, noting that the window for preparation is short with the elections fast approaching in February. He stressed the need for every eligible voter to participate, underscoring the power of individual votes to steer the country towards a new beginning.

He concluded with a powerful message, ‘For many years, we were denied our right to vote. This time, we all will vote-every single one of us. Let us all say: I voted to put this country on the right path. It was my vote that enabled Bangladesh to begin again.’
