Dhaka: A pre-election observer team from the European Union (EU) is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka in mid-September to assess the preparations for the upcoming 13th Jatiya Sangsad elections. Senior Secretary to the Election Commission Secretariat, Akhter Ahmed, revealed this information during a briefing at the election commission office located in the Agargaon area of the city.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the EU’s pre-election observer team will consist of seven members, including three international and four local observers. The team plans to evaluate the preparation and overall conditions necessary for conducting the elections in the region. The Election Commission received this information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs earlier today.
The observers’ arrival underscores the EU’s interest in ensuring transparent and fair electoral processes. The team will provide an external review of the measures being taken to prepare for the elections, contributing to the credibility and integrity of the electoral process.
