Dhaka: The capital of the Syed Abdul Hai Memorial Trust Fund at Dhaka University (DU) has been raised following a donation of Taka 1,45,000. On behalf of the donor family, Professor Dr. Shah Kawthar Mustafa Abululayee, Chairman of the Department of Philosophy at DU, handed over the cheque to DU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan during a ceremony here today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, with this contribution, the total capital of the trust fund now stands at Tk 3 lakh, as stated in a press release. The cheque handover ceremony was attended by several notable university officials, including Dhaka University Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr. Mamun Ahmed, Treasurer Professor Dr. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences Professor Dr. Taiabur Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Law Professor Dr. Muhammad Ekramul Haque, and Professors Md Nuruzzaman and Dr. Mohammad Daud Khan of the Department of Philosophy.
The Syed Abdul Hai Memorial Trust Fund provides annual one-time scholarships of Tk 12,000 each to two students from the Department of Philosophy who secure the highest CGPA in their first-year undergraduate examinations.
