Milestone Tragedy: Another Child Discharged, 28 Survivors Taking Treatment at NIBPS

Dhaka: The National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (NIBPS) today discharged another child, who suffered burn injuries in the fighter jet crash at Milestone School and College in Uttara.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the discharged child was Shreya Ghosh, a 9-year-old class-3 student of the school and daughter of Sukumar Ghosh. Resident Surgeon Shawon Bin Rahman of the burn institute confirmed that with Shreya’s discharge, a total of nine burn victims have been released from NIBPS as their conditions have improved.



Currently, 28 burn victims are receiving treatment at the burn institute, with four of them in critical condition. The incident occurred when a fighter jet of the air force crashed into a two-storey building of the Milestone School and College on July 21, shortly after taking off at around 1:00 pm. The crash was attributed to a mechanical fault.



The tragic accident has resulted in the deaths of 33 people, most of whom were students of the school, as confirmed by sources from the Health and Family Welfare Ministry.
