Dhaka: Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam has confirmed that the upcoming election will proceed within the announced timeframe. He emphasized the critical nature of the next five to six days in ensuring this commitment.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Alam addressed a gathering organized by the Bangladesh Secretariat Reporters Forum (BSRF), where he reiterated that there would be no postponement of the elections. "We stand firm on the election timing as previously stated. The election will not be delayed even by a single day. We anticipate a successful and festive election," he stated.
The dialogue also featured remarks from BSRF President Masudul Haque and General Secretary Obaidullah Badal. Shafiqul Alam assured that the election's timing remains unchanged, adhering to the Chief Adviser's prior announcements. Initially, the election was expected to occur in early April, but adjustments were considered based on reform progress, potentially moving it to February, a position still held by the administration.
Alam expressed optimism about the election process, acknowledging the common occurrence of violence in elections but pledging efforts to minimize it significantly.
