Dhaka: More than 10,000 cases of dengue were reported in Bangladesh this month, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to over 20,000, the Ministry of Health said, yesterday. A total of 393 new cases were reported in 24 hours, till 8:00 a.m. local time yesterday. In the same period, one person died due to the mosquito-borne disease, raising the death toll to 37, so far, this month.
According to Nam News Network, the recent surge in dengue cases has put significant pressure on the country’s healthcare system. Hospitals are reportedly struggling to manage the increasing number of patients, and health officials are urging citizens to take preventive measures to curb the spread of the disease. The government has intensified efforts to control the mosquito population through fumigation and public awareness campaigns.
