Natore: An ice-cream factory and a bakery were penalized on charges of their involvement in producing and selling food items in unhygienic conditions in Natore district today. Acting on a tip-off, the divisional office of Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) conducted the drives at different areas in Lalpur upazila.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the operation was led by Executive Magistrate Mehedi Hassan. The team found Desh Ice-cream factory in the Abdulpur area and Putul Bakery in the Kamarhati area selling adulterated ice lolly and bakery items without BSTI certification. Consequently, two cases were lodged, and the factories were fined TK 30,000 and TK 15,000 respectively.
