Sonargaon: A mobile court in a drive on Monday disconnected about 6.5 kilometers of illegal gas distribution lines at four spots, removing approximately 2,000 illegal residential burners in the Baylar and Nayapur areas of Sonargaon upazila in Narayanganj.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, during the operation, 335 feet of pipes used for illegal connections were dismantled and destroyed at the source. The action ensured that each illegal distribution line was completely closed by 'killing and capping' from the source point.
The drive was led by the Executive Magistrate of the Energy and Mineral Resources Division. Officials stated that such initiatives are crucial for preventing gas wastage and reducing the risk of accidents and threats to public safety posed by illegal gas connections.
