Dhaka: Seven students of the Department of Mathematics of Dhaka University (DU) have been awarded the 'Professor Dr Md Mokhlesur Rahman Trust Fund' scholarship for their outstanding academic achievements. DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan handed over the cheques for the scholarship to the students at a function at the Vice-Chancellor's conference room today, said a press release.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event was attended by several notable figures from the university, including Dean of Faculty of Science Professor Dr Abdus Salam, Chairperson of the Department of Mathematics Professor Shapla Shirin, and Institute of Education and Research Professor Dr Md Abdul Halim. Department of Mathematics Professor Dr Mohammad Riazuddin Mollah and Amena Akhter, the wife of late Professor Dr Md Mokhlesur Rahman, were also present at the event.
The Vice-Chancellor congratulated the students, highlighting that such scholarships represent significant achievements in their educational journeys. He also paid deep respect to the late Professor Dr Md Mokhlesur Rahman, acknowledging his contribution to the university and the field of mathematics.
The trust fund was established by the late Ex Professor of the Department of Mathematics, Dr Md Mokhlesur Rahman, on November 16, 2022, with an endowment of Taka 40 lakh. This year, the beneficiaries of the 'Professor Dr Md Mokhlesur Rahman Trust Fund' scholarship include Md Fardin Hasan, Md Simanto, Israt Yasmin Eva, Jannati Khatun, Md. Abdullah Shadid Chowdhury, Sharmin Parvin, and Shakib Al Helal.
