Dhaka: The Ministry of Public Administration has issued letters to all ministries, instructing them to include passport numbers in government orders (GOs) related to foreign travel. The directive aims to enhance transparency and ensure clarity regarding the type of passport being used for official purposes. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the directive was detailed in a letter signed by Senior Assistant Secretary Jeti Pru, sent on Sunday. It highlighted that while GOs for official foreign travel are issued regularly, many currently lack the inclusion of passport numbers for the concerned officials and employees. This omission has led to ambiguity about the type of passport-whether official, diplomatic, or ordinary-being used for such travel. To address this issue, the ministry has requested that all future GOs for foreign travel explicitly mention the passport number of the travelling official or employee. The letter has been sent to all senior secretaries and secretaries across ministries, emphas izing the importance of compliance with this new requirement to ensure uniformity and accountability in government travel documentation.
