Dhaka: An expert team from China is likely to arrive in Dhaka to assist in the investigation into a recent plane crash, aiming to identify the primary cause of the accident. Air Commodore Md. Mizanur Rahman, Chief Coordinator of the Air Force Emergency Coordination Center, shared this during a press briefing organized by the Aviation and Aerospace University Bangladesh at the Tejgaon Old Airport area.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a high-level investigation committee was formed on the day of the incident, July 21. The Bangladesh Air Force participated in the rescue operation, and the involvement of international experts is expected to help uncover the root cause of the accident. Mizanur Rahman emphasized the importance of international assistance in the investigation.
Present at the briefing were Director of the Directorate of Air Operations Air Commodore Shahidul Islam, Associate Professor and Joint Director of the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery Dr. Md. Maruful Islam, and Principal of Milestone School and College's Diabari School branch Captain Jahangir Alam Khan (retd). Mizanur Rahman highlighted the activities and initiatives taken by the Bangladesh Air Force following the crash, noting that the Air Force Chief addressed many questions in a media briefing the day after the incident.
Under the guidance of the Air Force Chief, the Bangladesh Air Force is undertaking various humanitarian activities to assist the victims. An Emergency Support Center was established on July 21 under the leadership of an Air Commodore to ensure these activities are conducted in an orderly manner. This center is providing treatment to the injured, verifying the identity of the deceased, coordinating burial and cremation, and assisting with blood donation efforts.
The Bangladesh Air Force has prioritized the treatment of the injured, forming two coordination cells at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (NIBPS) and CMH, which operate around the clock. On July 22, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan visited the NIBPS and Combined Military Hospital to check on the injured.
On July 23, a coordination meeting was held with a delegation from the Milestone School and College, where discussions were held to coordinate post-accident activities. Misunderstandings regarding casualty figures were addressed with the help of school authorities. The Air Force Chief paid homage to the deceased and expressed condolences to their families by visiting their graveyards, offering military honors, and placing wreaths.
Special prayers were held on July 25 at all Air Force bases and units to honor the deceased, and on July 24, similar prayers were offered in all Shaheen Schools and other educational institutions run by the Bangladesh Air Force. On July 26, delegations from BAF Shaheen College, Dhaka, and BAF Shaheen College, Kurmitola visited the Uttara Milestone School and College to convey condolences.
The press briefing concluded with a statement that the Air Force remains committed to supporting those affected by the tragic accident and will continue to provide all possible assistance.
