Jaflong: Some 50 boats loaded with stones and five trucks with sand were seized in Jaflong of Sylhet on Monday. In addition, more than 5,250 cubic feet of illegally extracted stones were seized through a mobile court drive in Tahirpur, Sunamganj, on July 24 with an estimated market value of Taka 2,62,510, a handout said today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Executive Magistrate of the Energy and Mineral Resources Division conducted the drive. This initiative is part of an ongoing effort to combat illegal extraction and transportation of mineral resources. The aim is to protect natural resources and ensure government revenue, as stated in the handout.
The authorities emphasize that these drives will continue as part of broader efforts to safeguard the environment and uphold regulations regarding mineral resource management. The seized materials, including the stones and sand, represent a significant step in curbing illegal activities in the region.
