Government Mandates Retirement for Four Senior Police Officers

Dhaka: The government has mandated the retirement of four deputy inspectors general (DIGs) of police, citing public interest as the reason, according to separate notifications issued by the home ministry.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the four DIGs affected by this decision are Atika Islam from the Dhaka Range office, AKM Nahidul Islam from Police Telecom, Md Monir Hossain from Industrial Police, and Md Mahbub Alam from Railway Police. The notifications were issued by the home ministry’s public security division, specifying that their retirements were in accordance with Section 45 of the Government Services Act 2018 (Act No. 57 of 2018).



The notifications further clarified that the retirement orders for these officers are to be enforced immediately. However, they will retain all entitled retirement benefits as per existing rules. The notifications were signed by Nasimul Gani, the senior secretary of the home ministry’s public security division.
