Noakhali: Two minor boys drowned in a pond at Ward No-4 of Charparbati union under Companiganj upazila this morning. The tragic incident claimed the lives of Md. Ibrahim, 5, son of Sajeeb, and his cousin Md. Nadim, 4, son of Oman expatriate Md. Sharif, both residents of Darji Bepari house in the union.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the family members reported that Ibrahim and Nadim went to the pond near their house around 8 am to catch fish. During this activity, one of the boys unexpectedly fell into the pond. In a bid to save his cousin, the second child also jumped into the water.
Family members, upon realizing the situation, began searching for the boys. They were eventually found and rushed to the Companiganj Upazila Health Complex. Unfortunately, the on-duty doctors declared both children dead upon arrival.
Char Parbati Union Parishad Chairman Kazi Mohammad Hanif Ansari confirmed the incident, expressing the community's grief over the loss.
